SFC John William Clowdis, USA (Ret.), 78, of Hopewell, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021. Born in Florida, on August 2, 1943, he was the son of the late Albert W. and Velma Long Clowdis, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Benson.
Among SFC Clowdis’ proud service to his country, were three tours in Vietnam. Upon his military retirement, he further served his country as a Civil Servant at the Army Logistics Management College, Fort Lee. He was a member of the Full Gospel Korean Church, Hopewell.
He is survived by his wife, Ssang Y. Clowdis; son, David Anthony Clowdis; a grandson, Zachary Benson; a granddaughter, Jordan Benson; and a sister, Doris Douglas.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2021 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend David Kim officiating. The family will receive friends following the service from 2:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2021 in Sunset Memorial Park, 1901 W. Hundred Road, Chester, Virginia 23831.
