Shaaron B. Jefferson of Prince George County, 71, passed away January 1, 2019 at her home of 50 years surrounded by family.
Born in Richmond, VA, Shaaron attended Colonial Heights High School and furthered her education at Petersburg General Hospital School of Nursing. Shaaron was a charter member and past President of VARN. She worked as a Registered Nurse Case Manager, serving in both field work and supervisory positions for many years until retiring in 2016.
Shaaron enjoyed being "Grammy" to her seven "babycakes," coloring in one of her many coloring books, and reading a good book within days of purchasing it. As a young adult she joined Beta Sigma Phi International in which she remained active for several years. Shaaron was also a devoted member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church where she participated enthusiastically in The Living Christmas Tree for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Elizabeth Burton. Shaaron leaves behind a loving husband, Larry Jefferson, two daughters, Stacey Meyer (Brad) and Christy Ramsey (Billy), as well as a step-daughter, Kelly Wilson (Pat) and brother Wayne Burton (Sylvia). She is also survived by her grandchildren Morgan and Caleb Meyer, Haley, Preston, and Kaysea Ramsey, and Meade and Jack Wilson.
The family would like to thank the many special friends who have visited and helped through this time, as well as Dr. Tahir Allauddin and Laura Fernandez, RN with Hospice of VA.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23805. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday night, January 3, 2018 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
