Sharon Larue Schallhorn, 64 of Prince George County, died on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg. She was born in Rochester, New York on September 11, 1945. She was an avid long-arm quilter known by many in the tri-cites area. She also tutored foreign students in English as a second language for the Tri-City Literacy Council. She was employed for nineteen years with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of the Rochester area. Mrs. Schallhorn was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, where she participated with the quilt group and other activities of the church. She is survived by her loving husband, John Irwin Schallhorn, a son, Tyler J. Schallhorn of Alexandria, Virginia. Her mother, Dona Hill of Petersburg. Two step children, Lisa Ovenshire of Henrietta, New York, and Charles Schallhorn of Hollister, California. One step grandchild, Ryan Ovenshire of Henrietta, New York and one cousin, Donna Bonino of Prince George. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 3935 South Crater Road, 23805.
