Sharon Lynn Shipe, 66, of South Chesterfield passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014 peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 2, 1947 to the late Montague and Lillian Williams Thompson, and was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Thompson Sr., and a sister Shirley Thompson. Sharon was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Chesterfield County. She had a love for gardening, ministry and her family. Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Terry Shipe; two sons, Colin Shipe and wife, Lisa, Justin Shipe and wife, Ilana; grandchildren, Morgan, Ethan, Allison, and Logan; sister in-law, Jean Thompson; nieces, Stacy Thompson, Lisa Howerton, and Kristi Kumsher, and a nephew Kenneth Thompson Jr. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 9227 River Road South Chesterfield, Virginia, 23803, with the Reverend Michelle Edmonds Lindsey officiating. A reception will follow after the service at the church. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 7, 2014 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the church. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard.
