Shelly Carter

Shelly Hicks Swinson Carter, 60, of Chesterfield, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2015. Born in France, she was preceded in death by her mother, Shelby Davis Hicks. Mrs. Carter was retired from Gumenick Properties after 31 years. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, John S. Carter; two daughters, Bryanna Branch and Courtney Carter; son-in-law, Brandon Lindsay; two grandsons, Emrie and Jace Branch; her father, Elwin C. Hicks Sr.; her mother-in-law, Elizabeth S. Carter; three sisters; two brothers; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; numerous extended family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Shawn Franco officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
