Shihan Tony Wurtz, 59, of Colonial Heights passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Robert Lee Wurtz and Annette Rebeca Bridgman Wurtz. Tony was devoted to Karate, and was the Founder and Director of the Kyokuryshin-Do in Colonial Heights; he was an 8th degree black belt, a member of the Petersburg Eagles-Arie 882. He is survived by a sister, Diane Heller of Prince George; nieces, Sherry Barfield, Saundra Burklund; great-nephews, Andrew Burklund, Ray Barfield; uncles, Joe Elmore, George Elmore; special devoted cousin, Terry Lufsey, cousin, William Lufsey Jr.; and other numerous cousins; special student senior ranking black belt, Sensei David Clark; close friends Richard Wall, Paul and Kathy Poyant. A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Thursday October 23, 2014 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Jason Elmore officiating. Interment will be Private.
