On February 27, 2023 Shirley Virginia Perkinson Cimburke entered into her heavenly home to reside with her Lord and Savior and also with the love of her life Clarence “Junny” Cimburke who passed away in 2013. She was born on August 13, 1928, to the late Daniel B. Perkinson and Annie Belle Rudy Perkinson. Shirley is survived by her three children Sandy C. Lee (Bill) of Chester; Joy S. Cimburke (Karen) of Powhatan and Kenny W. Cimburke (Pam) of Dinwiddie; three grandchildren, Tammy L. Underwood of Williamsburg, Justin S. Lee (Katie) of Glen Allen, and Sonya M. Cimburke of Dinwiddie; four great-grandchildren, Kaylee E. Underwood, Jackson W. Underwood, Brooks J. Lee, and Kaysen A. Cimburke. She is also survived by her one remaining sister, Mary P. Chalkley of Chesterfield, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Shirley graduated from Petersburg High School in 1946. She then married Clarence “Junny” Cimburke and that union lasted for 66 years. Early in her life she worked at the Virginia Garment Factory formerly located on South Street in Petersburg, but upon having a family she became the true backbone of America by being a wife, mother and homemaker. She also worked for 35 years with the Chesterfield County fair working in the Arts and Craft Section. Shirley loved family, games (especially UNO), gardening, fishing, and flowers. She also enjoyed entering her vegetables and flowers into the exhibits in hopes of winning a blue ribbon. Let’s say there was a hidden competitive edge in her.
Another love of her life was Wood’s Methodist Church where she taught the children’s division for over 20 years, participated in the United Methodist Women Group and sung with the Adult and ladies Choir for many years.
The family would like to thank the faithful care givers who attended to Shirley in her ending stage of life and to the staff of At Home Care.
