Shirley Allen Lea, 70, of Matoaca, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born in Matoaca, on January 8, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Richard C. and Edith James Allen. Mrs. Lea was a member of the Matoaca United Methodist Church, and a graduate of Thomas Dale High School. Shirley loved shopping, flowers, gardening, craft shows, antiques, and family gatherings. She was a devoted wife, and a great mother who will be dearly missed by her family. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Philip A. Lea Sr.; her children, Pamela A. Holschuh and husband, Brett, Philip A. Lea Jr. and wife, Karen, Brenda L. Sirry and husband, Butch all of Matoaca, and Amy L. Holschuh and husband, Bart of Chesterfield; eight grandchildren, Tracy Branch, Timothy Humphries Jr., Anna Holschuh, Jason Wells, Angela Jordan, Bart Holschuh II, Braden and Alden Holschuh; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Humphries; and a brother, Robert Allen both of Matoaca. The family would like to thank the SRMC staff of the 4th floor Transition Unit for their loving care and devotion to Mrs. Lea. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011 in the Matoaca United Methodist Church, 6301 River Road, Matoaca, Virginia 23803 with the Reverend Jo Ellen Hetherington officiating. A reception will be held following the service at church. Arrangements by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Matoaca United Methodist Church.
