Sofia Banik

Sofia Josephine Lemak Banik passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013. She was born in Duquesne, Pennsylvania on March 9, 1918, to the late Vasil and Anna Mohorita Lemak. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Banik; a son, Michael D. Banik; six sisters, Mary, Ann, Elizabeth, Madeline, Emily and Elizabeth II; eight brothers, John, Steve, Michael, Charles, George, Andrew, Frank and Nicholas. She is survived by her daughter, Marlene and her husband, Norman S. Lazor of Colonial Heights; three grandchildren, Stacie Lazor and J. Philip Cornett, Alisa Lazor and John B. Barnette and Dana Martin; four great-grandchildren, Kristen, Taylor, Alexa, and Kaitlyn. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013 in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 828 Buford Road, Richmond, Virginia 23235 with Fr. Karl Marsolle, Celebrant. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday in Bermuda Memorial Park, Enon. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday prior to the service at church.
