Sonia Chitwood

Mrs. Sonia Lawson Chitwood passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2012 after a long illness. She was born in Magnet, Kentucky on February 25, 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents, Noah and Bessie Brock; brothers, Palmer Lawson, Bill Lawson, Joseph Brock and Frank Brock. She was a member of Ettrick United Methodist Church, and was a former member of Mary Helen Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt. She spent her life taking care of her family and had a profound effect on all those that she came in contact with. She showed all those around her how to love unconditionally and live life with joy and peace in her heart. She is survived by her husband, R.L. Chitwood Jr.; and sons, James (Nancy) and Charles (Sheila); grandchildren, Tony Watkins (Monique), Todd Watkins, Travis Chitwood, Callie Watkins (James), Aaron Chitwood, and Kristen Chitwood; brothers, Oscar Brock and Gene Brock; sisters-in-law, Estelle Lawson, Ida Wheelhouse, Jimmie Wrightstone and Sue Bissoti (Albert); thirteen nieces and ten nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2012 in the Colonial Heights chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Robert Lamb and the Reverend Jimmy Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
