CW3 Stanley L. Long, (USA ret.) 76, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013. Born in Ohio, he was the son of the late Samuel B. and Lettie Tucker Long. Stan was a veteran of the United States Army for 22 years, having served in Vietnam from 1969-1971. He worked for Computer Science Corporation for 15 years and was a member of the American Legion. He was a former marathon runner, and enjoyed hiking the Appalachian Trail; he loved golfing, fishing and the outdoors. He will truly be missed by everyone he ever knew, touched, played and worked with. He left behind his wife of 55 years, Ingeborg; two children, Thomas Long of Chesterfield and Sandra Long Powell of Wake Forrest, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Samantha Long of Maryland and Ashley Waltman of Raleigh, North Carolina; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Gayle and Dennis Long; and a sister, Linda Long of Dayton Ohio. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will be private.
