Stephen Anthony Clarke, 57, of Dinwiddie County, Va., went to heaven on March 8, 2012. Stephen was born in Utica, N.Y., on Sept. 10, 1954. He spent four years in the Air Force prior to embarking on a federal civil service career that spanned 33 years of dedicated service in the maintenance and transportation areas. His support to the Army was exemplary, and his service and expertise during the deployment of soldiers to Desert Shield/Desert Storm theatres will stand him for years to come. He retired in July of 2011 and happily dedicated himself to many motorcycle travel adventures with riding buddies, physical fitness and his honey-do list, as well as quality time with his grandchildren. Stephen was participating in a "500 miles in 90 days" running program and completed his 500th mile on March 8, 2012. Stephen was very active in Scouting, coaching Little League and as a member of the Masons. He was a member of the Chester Christian Church and was an active participant in many ministries supporting those in need. Stephen was always the first person to offer help, whether monetary, spiritually or with physical labor. His was a familiar singing voice in the congregation and will be missed by all. Stephen was predeceased by his wife of 27 years, Sherry Marie Clarke; a grandson, Justine Vance; mother, Ruth Foley; father, Alfred Kicinski; step-father, Lester Foley; and brother-in-law, Earl McCormick. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Michele Clarke of Dinwiddie, Va.; stepsons, Kyle and Ben Daughety; son, Stephen and daughter-in-law, Becky Spink of New York; son, Christopher Clarke of Dinwiddie, Va.; daughter, Shannon Clarke Vance and husband, Danny of Chesterfield, Va.; grandsons, Jessie Spink; Chase Vance, Brenden Clarke; granddaughters, Sierra Spink and Somer Clarke; one brother and sister-in-law, Alfred and Mary Lou Clarke of New York; one sister, Georgia McCormick of New York; several foster brothers and sisters, many nieces and nephews and close friends. There will be a celebration of Steven's life at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Chester Christian Church, 4330 Curtis St. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chester Christian Church in name of the Stephen Clarke Mission Fund.
