Sterling Birdsong

Sterling Otis Birdsong, 81, of Richmond, formerly of Petersburg, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Chippenham Medical Center. He was the son of the late Percy Temple and Lena Watson Birdsong and was the widower of Patricia Vaiden Birdsong. He was a member of the Colonial Heights Senior Golf Association and was retired from Phillip Morris Tobacco Co. Mr. Birdsong is survived by a daughter, Jo Anna Hughes and husband, Billy of Myrtle Beach South Carolina and a granddaughter, Brittany Sage; a sister, Ruth E. Vaiden of Glen Allen. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday August 24, 2016 in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road.. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
