Sue Motto Boyd, 78, of Colonial Heights passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the Medical College of Virginia. Born in Colonial Heights, she was the daughter of the late Peter Paul and Eleanor Mayes Motto; and was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Earl Motto. Mrs. Boyd was an active member of Ivey Memorial United Methodist Church and had retired as a secretary in 1991 from the Virginia State Police. Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Herbert L. Boyd; two sons, Alan P. Boyd and wife, Sharon and Tracy N. Boyd and wife, Kim; three grandchildren, Grant, Kayla and Lauren Boyd; two sisters, Jean Foster and Shirley Bardo; one brother, Franklin Motto and wife, Fay; her two fur babies, Odie and Rex; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA with the Rev. Jim Smith, officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Colonial Heights Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 3401, Colonial Heights, VA 23834 in memory of Mrs. Boyd.
