Mrs. Sue Reese Sharpe, 93, of Colonial Heights, Virginia received her angel wings on Saturday, June 12, 2021. Sue had been residing with her sister, Sadie, and enjoying their companionship until her sister's recent passing. Sue's health also declined, yet she was fortunate to remain at home to receive family and guest visitors and listen to soothing gospel music until her angel wings arrived. Her at-home care givers described her as a sweet and lovely lady. Sue was a second mom to her many nieces and nephews and always enjoyed when children came to visit. She was also fond of all the family pets and had many of her own through the years. Sue retired from the C&P Telephone Company and enjoyed spending her leisure time with her husband before his passing. They were known to enjoy a good dance party and were happy with their dancing shoes on as well as enjoying visits to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and attending Monumental Baptist Church in Petersburg.
Sue was born in Petersburg to William Vinson and Susie Hatchell Reese. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Fairfax Sharpe; sisters, Mary, Sarah and Sadie Reese; brother, Jimmie Reese and nephew, Donnie Belcher. She is survived by her devoted niece and caregiver, Martha Small (Buddy); nephew, Keith Belcher (Karen) and Ray Belcher; great-nieces, April Ross Kennedy, Valerie Daniels (Patrick) and Amanda Warren (Wesley); great-nephews, Brandon and Chris Belcher, Robbie Belcher (Cathy), Aaron Belcher and Zachary Belcher; great-great nephews, Robert Troy Kennedy, Owen and Nolan Daniels, Levi Wesley, Adam, Ryan and Aiden Belcher and great-great nieces, Caroline Belcher and Aleah Kennedy, who was also a devoted care giver. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night, June 16, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
