Susan Jane Redford

Susan Jane Redford, 72, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at her residence. Born March 8, 1951 she was the daughter of the late Wallace Alfred and Vermadel Burke Redford, and also preceded in death by her beloved Jimmy Alvin Parrish. Susan is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Leigh Wells of Colonial Heights and Brandy Wells Damron (Steve) of Prince George County; grandchildren, Gabrielle Mirro, Brooke Edmonds (CJ), and Harrison Damron; two great- grandchildren; one sister, Linda Redford Steger (Herbert) of Huntsville, Alabama. Susan was a member of Ettrick United Methodist Church where she served on several boards. In her early years, Ms. Redford worked for C&P Telephone Company before devoting her time to raising her girls. Returning to the workforce, she retired with 30 years of service to the City of Colonial Heights, where she served in the Commissioner of Revenue and Registrar’s offices, culminating her career being appointed General Registrar from 2007 to 2018. Susan used her artistic talents in many ways, was an avid collector and served as store liaison to the Hooked on Hallmark Committed Collector’s Club.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, birdwatching in her backyard, and relaxing at the Outer Banks beaches. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2024 at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1901 Birdsong Road, S. Prince George, Virginia 23805 with the Reverend Bob Lamb officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 4, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
