Susie Laffoon Archer, 72, of Chesterfield County, died Tuesday April 28, 2009 at the Colonial Heights Health Care Center. She was the daughter of the late Berkley Laffoon Sr. and Dorothy Crichton Lafoon, and the widow of Franklin Archer. She was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Archer, and a brother, Berkeley Laffoon Jr. Mrs. Archer retired from the Chesterfield County Food Service Department. She is survived by her children, John F. Archer and wife, Dina of Matoaca, Denise King and husband, Dale of Wilsons, Suzanne Groux and husband, Gary of Matoaca; grandchildren, Robbie, Shannon, Sarah, Frankie, and Derek; one great-granddaughter, Amaya; a sister, Dorothy Riggan of Sutherland; a sister-in-law, Shirley Laffoon of Matoaca. A funeral service will take place at 1: 00 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009 in the Second Presbyterian Church, 419 West Washington Street, Petersburg, Virginia 23803 with the Reverend Dr. Daniel E. Hale officiating. Burial will follow in East Matoaca Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Colonial Heights of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Second Presbyterian Church, or the favorite charity of your choice.
