Sylvia H. Hall Sylvia Rose Higgins Hall of Colonial Heights entered into eternal rest December 19, 2015, following a brief illness. Born in Roanoke Rapids, NC on June 14, 1927, she was the daughter of Curtis C. and Maude T. Higgins. She graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School, where she played trumpet in the band, was Drum Majorette and voted "Most Talented" in her senior class. She worked for Virginia Electric and Power Co. (now Dominion Power), J. C. Penney Co. and Interstate Life Insurance Co., and was an excellent gardener, seamstress, cook and homemaker. A member of Immanuel Baptist Church, she taught children in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and after school programs, served in the Women's Missionary Union and Gideons International Auxiliary, sang in church choirs and small ensembles, and was a dedicated prayer warrior. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. She is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years, Harry L. Hall, Sr.; children, Harry L. Hall, Jr of Chester; Susan H. Frazier (James Frazier) of St. Petersburg, FL; Timothy L. Hall (Damon Lee Fowler) of Savannah, GA; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family. Visitation will take place, December 21, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, Colonial Heights 2033 Boulevard. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, December 22, at 1:00 p.m. at Southlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Prince George, Va. The family requests memorial contributions to Gideons International.
