Thelma Barfield

Thelma Parsons Barfield, 96, of Richmond, formerly of Petersburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at Envoy at the Meadows. She was born in Prince George County, Va., on Feb. 1, 1914, to the late Arthur Rutus and Mary (Molly) Virginia Bishop Warthan. Ms. Barfield was preceded in death by her husband, Roger L. Barfield. She is survived by her son, Milton C. Barfield and wife, Janet, of Richmond; one granddaughter, Burnell Lynn Adams and husband, Todd, of Atlanta, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Travis Adams; one sister, Marlene. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, Va., with the Rev. David Prather officiating. The Colonial Heights chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, is handling funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local Food Bank.
