Thelma A. Brittain 98, of Colonial Heights, departed this life on October 24, 2017 to the Heavenly Gates to be with the Lord. She was born March 7, 1919 to the late Robert Vernie and Minerva Cynthia Miles Richardson. Ms. Brittain was preceded in death by her husband Albert Brittain and a granddaughter Catherine L. Disher. She was an avid quilter and needle pointer and was a member of the American Needle Point Guild, the American Quilt Guild, the Southside Virginia Chapter of the American Needle Point Guild, and the Petersburg Garden Club. Ms. Brittain is survived by two daughters, Judith Brittain Carey and Lynne Brittain; three grandchildren, Michael Disher, James Wallen, and Joey Howard Wade; and seven great-grandchildren, Corey Mingloski, Blake Wells, Kyle and Kayla Howard, Haley Ragsdale, Tehya Disher, and Zach Wallen. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
