Thomas Atkinson

Thomas Loften "Tommy" Atkinson, 73, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. Born in Richmond, Virginia on June 18, 1944, he was the son of the late Mack L. and Paige Birdsong Atkinson and was preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth Atkinson and Mack Atkinson. Mr. Atkinson was a life long resident of the tri-city area and he enjoyed trips to Myrtle Beach for SOS. He loved to dance and was a member of the Richmond Shag Club & the Hopewell Moose Lodge. He is survived by his longtime companion, Kathy Russell; daughter, Sheila Boykin; grandchildren, Crystal, Ashlyn and Phillip; brother, Donald Atkinson; special nephew, Chris Atkinson; and other extended family members and many friends. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
