Thomas Covington

Thomas Covington Jr., CLU, formerly of Colonial Heights, died Wednesday, January 14, 2009 in Atlanta, Georgia after a brief illness. The body was cremated. Tom was 87, and is survived by his wife, Catherine Laushey Covington of Decatur, Georgia; daughters, Ann Hunter and husband, Rod of Decatur, Georgia, Carolyn Parks and husband, JD of Selma, Alabama; grandsons, David Hunter of Decatur, Georgia, Geoffrey Parks and wife, Kristen of Charlotte, North Carolina, Matthew Parks and wife, Kimberlie of Selma, Alabama, and their son, Tom's great-grandson, Tyler Parks. He is also survived by a sister, Louise Elder of Petersburg, and many nieces and nephews. There will be a brief graveside service 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2009 in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg where the cremains will be interred. The service will be led by the Reverend Dr. Rodney J. Hunter, son-in-law of the deceased. Arrangements by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
