Tommy Crump, 78, of Chester passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017. Born March 25, 1939, he was the son of the late George Clyde Sr. and Lena Mebane Crump and was also preceded in death by his brother, George Clyde Crump Jr. He was a member of Chester Baptist Church and attended Sycamore United Methodist Church in Prince George, as well as Unity Baptist Church in Prince George. For many years, Tommy proudly served in the United States Coast Guard. He was the former proprietor of Sylvester Restaurant in Chester, and very much enjoyed flying hang gliders. He is survived by his wife, Marie S. Crump; daughter, Brenda C. Welch (Brian); son, Michael T. Crump (Janet); granddaughter, Katherine E. Welch; sisters, Carolyn C. Chappell, Nancy C. Jones (Russell) and numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday night, December 7, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
