Thomas “Ben” Mawyer, 84, of Chesterfield, Virginia, departed this life on Thursday, February 1, 2024. He was born on September 5, 1939, in Virginia. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Mildred Frances Mawyer. Surviving him are his beloved children, Sandi Peterson and husband, Steve, Michael Mawyer and wife, Heather, and Ashley Mawyer; two beautiful granddaughters, Jessica and Megan Peterson; grand pup, Pixie; and other extended family members. He attended John Marshall High School and graduated in 1957. He was a member of the Corps of Cadets. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1963. Tom also attended Liberty University. He retired in 2005 from G.D Package Machinery as a purchasing manager and worked part-time with Enterprise Rent-A-Car as a driver.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 9 2024, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will follow privately in Blandford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, support.woundedwarriorproject.org or to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, www.stjude.org/donate
