Thomas Bernard "Tommy" Moore, 85, of Petersburg, Va. passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at his residence. Born in Ettrick, he was the son of the late Percy Young Moore and Dorothy Allen Moore. Mr. Moore was predeceased by his wife Barbara Webb Moore and his sister Mary Patricia Van Aken. A devoted lifetime member of Ettrick United Methodist Church, he served as youth group leader, on the administrative board and sang in the choir. He was a retired salesman from Roper Brothers Lumber Company with over 40 years of service and an active member in the Petersburg and Colonial Heights communities. He served on Petersburg's Community Development and Block Grant (CDBG) board for several years and a member of POGO. With over 50 years of perfect attendance in the Colonial Heights Lions Club, he was honored as a Melvin Jones Fellow. He is survived by a son, Thomas B. "Bernie" Moore, Jr. and wife, Sandra of Chesterfield, VA; a daughter, Karen Lorelea Sarver and husband, Barry of Chesterfield, VA; one granddaughter, Taylor Leandra Moore of Chesterfield, Va., devoted caregivers, family members and friends. Mr. Moore was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was also an avid Yankees and Redskins fan. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Ettrick United Methodist Church with the Reverend Bob Lamb and Reverend James Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Va. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Va. 23834.
