Vea Christine Dick, 89, of Colonial Heights, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 2, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Willard W. and Hattie Bertilson White, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis and Alvin White; and three sisters, Hazel White, Carol White Plummer, and Rosaleta White Castor. Mrs. Dick was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, the Colonial Heights Senior Citizens Club, and was a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II. She and her husband were the owner/operators of Dairy Queen in the Tri-Cities from 1949 to 1971. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Seward G. Dick; three daughters, Dorothea Whitaker & Bob Rausch of South Carolina, Jeannie Crabtree and husband, Durward of Colonial Heights, and Karen Smith of Arlington; five grandchildren, Edward Whitaker and wife, Michelle of Canada, Christine Wagner and husband, Jason of New Jersey, Margie Piotrowski and husband, John of Colonial Heights, Brad Smith of Arlington, and Jessica Crabtree & Jake Davis of Dinwiddie; one great-grandson, Luke Wagner of New Jersey; one brother, Roy White of Oklahoma; one sister, Evelyn Moss of Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George with the Reverend David Prather officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
