Vera Burge

Vera Mayhew Burge, 87, of Colonial Heights, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2020. She was born in Franklin County, Virginia on August 4, 1932 to the late William and Nora Mayhew and retired from Allied Chemical of Chesterfield. Mrs. Burge loved gardening, quilting, travelling, sewing, and embroidery, but above all she loved her family and the time that she spent with them. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dalton B. Thornton and Herbert Hoover Burge; brothers, Charles D. Mayhew and William E. Mayhew; and sister, Thelma F. Cash. She is survived by her daughters, Gail Marie Brown of Hopewell, and Wanda Darnell Grosvenor (Bruce Sr.) of Colonial Heights; granddaughters, Patricia “Missy” Stovall (Duane), Amber Brown,  Bridget Ames (Chris) and Terri Norman. ;grandson: Bruce “Bubba” Grosvenor Jr. (Kasi): great-grandsons, Brennon Stovall, Bradley Stovall and Dylan Bowman; great-granddaughters, Brooke Synan (Christian), Katelyn Norman, Ella Grosvenor and Haley Grosvenor: brother, Donald Lee Mayhew of King and Queen County; sister, Mamie V. Caudill of Chester; and numerous nieces and nephews. Remains rest at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 on Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A private graveside service will take place at Southlawn Memorial Park, S.
