Vera V. Duncan, 88, of Matoaca, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at her residence. Born in Craigsville, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late David Z. and Rachel Griffin Colvin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lee Duncan Sr.; two sons, Richard L. Duncan Jr. and David L. Duncan; a grandchild; five brothers; and two sisters. Mrs. Duncan was a member of The Chester Harrowgate Worship Center, a retired Operator with Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company and a life member of the Colonial Heights Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 2239. She is survived by a son, Donald W. Duncan and wife, JoAnne of Chester; a daughter, Brenda G. Miller and special friend, James W. Brown Jr. of Amelia; eight grandchildren, Lecia Wilmoth, Audra Sizemore, Wendy R. Duncan, Charlotte A. Rowand, James E. Miller Jr., Richard L. Duncan III, Angela Scarberry, and Tracey Saunders; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015 at The Chester Harrowgate Worship Center, 13811 Harrowgate Road, Chester, Virginia 23831 with Pastor Lyndon Johnson officiating. Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2015 at the Community Memorial Cemetery, Craigsville, Virginia 24430. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
