Vernell Batey

Vernell L. Batey, 89, of Colonial Heights, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018. She was born in Georgia on April 12, 1929 to the late Homer and Elberta Anderson. Mrs. Batey was a caring and godly mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; and was a long-time member of Cameron Avenue Church of Christ. She has left this earth and will be reunited with her husband, Elmer Batey and son, Douglas Wayne Batey. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Rodgers (Chuck), and Teresa Klimek (Danny); grandchildren, Brian Batey, Aimee Spivey, Nathan Batey, Stephen Klimek, and Kyle Klimek; great-grandchildren, Lily, Lucy, Liam, Kiara, Sophie, and Vivian; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2018 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Cameron Avenue Church of Christ, 601 Cameron Avenue, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Benign Essential Blepharospasm Research Foundation (BEBRF), P.O.
