Violet Caffrey Wray, 85, of Colonial Heights, known to her siblings as "Sissy," passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Chippenham Medical Center. Born in Dinwiddie County, she was the daughter of the late Everett Earl Caffrey Sr. and Inez Kathleen Humphries Caffrey, and the widow of Everett Eugene Wray. She was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Weathers; two brothers, Everett E. Caffrey Jr. and John W. "Buddy" Caffrey. Mrs. Wray was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Swift Creek Ward. She is survived by a daughter, Valerie Rennay Whitley of Gates, North Carolina; a son, Brandon Caffrey Wray and wife, Betty Baker Wray of Chester; two grandsons, Jason Michael Nicely Sr. and wife, Marty and Matthew Everett Wray; three great-grandchildren, Jason Michael Nicely Jr., Walter Blake Nicely, and Laci Nicole Nicely; a brother, Franklin "Sonny" Caffrey; sisters, Kathleen "Cap" Harris, Harriet Moore, Barbara Cummings, and Jean Wolfrey; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2013 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Swift Creek Ward, 501 Compton Road, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with Bishop Mike Mabe officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E.
