Virginia "Ginny" Anne Bishop, 63, of Petersburg, VA passed away on January 15, 2017 at the Medical College of Virginia. Born in Schuylkill, Pennsylvania, on July 20, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Henry Anthony Wanczyk; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert Thomas Bishop; and her grandmother, Lucinda Margaret Ganly. Mrs. Bishop had retired from Fort Lee in 2015 after 43 years of service, working for the United States Army, beginning in Indiantown Gap, PA. Ginny was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the V.F.W., the American Legion Post #2 in Petersburg and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 882 in Petersburg. She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Marie Bishop of Petersburg; her mother, Margaret Lucinda O'Brien; a brother, Edward O'Brien, Jr. of New York; a nephew, Joseph Moore Jr. of PA; devoted friend, Thomas Burton of Petersburg; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 151 W. Washington Street Petersburg, Virginia 23803, with Fr. Brian Capuano, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. with a prayer vigil beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
