Virginia Collier Boisseau, of Colonial Heights, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 19, 2011 after a brief illness. She passed away at the home of her daughter, Vicki Minetree, surrounded by her family. In her last weeks she was blessed to have received excellent service from Crater Community Hospice. She was born in Ettrick, Virginia on September 1, 1919 to Nathaniel M. Collier and Mettie Pulley Collier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James E. Collier and Charles F. Collier and four sisters Grace O'Donnell, Catherine Hogwood, Sadie Brittingham, and Elva McGee. Virginia was a 1938 graduate of Petersburg High School. In 1947 she was married to the late William Stuart Boisseau. She was a long-term employee of both Martin Appliances and Gilbert C. Martin and & Co. in Colonial Heights. Her devotion to her jobs was secondary only to her devotion to her family. She attended Ettrick United Methodist Church. In addition to her daughter Vicki, she is survived by son-in-law Harold Minetree of Colonial Heights; daughter Ellen Kirk of Hoschton, Ga.; three grandchildren, Nathaniel A. Minetree of Richmond, James F. Kirk III and wife Lindsey of Chamblee, Ga., and Virginia E. Kirk of Corbin, Ky.; a brother Nathaniel M. Collier and wife Laura of Matoaca; sister Marie C. Martin of Colonial Heights, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Ettrick United Methodist Church 21302 Chesterfield Avenue, Ettrick, Virginia 23803 with the Reverend Bob H. Lamb officiating. Interment private. The family will receive friends Tuesday June 21, 2011 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory 2033 Boulevard 23834.
