Virginia Jones

Virginia Baxter Jones, 82, of Colonial Heights, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the Dinwiddie Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the daughter of the late William Rufus and Ethel Wilson Baxter and was preceded in death by her husband, George Melvin Jones a daughter, Barbara Gail Jones and a half sister, Louise B. Townsend. Mrs. Jones retired from Southside Regional Medical Center as a Billing Clerk and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Jones Turner and husband, Charles, of Chesterfield, Vicki Lynne Jones of Colonial Heights, Jacqueline Jones Slaybaugh and husband, David , of Colonial Heights; three grandchildren, David Charles Slaybaugh Jr., Parker Wade Slaybaugh, Madison Gail Slaybaugh and one sister; Catherine Baxter Mayes of Colonial Heights and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 3:30 p.m. Friday in Blandford Cemetery Petersburg, Virginia with the Reverend Wayne Johnson officiating. The funeral procession will leave the funeral Home at 3 P.M. The family will receive friends Thursday evening (tonight) from 7-8:30 P.M. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory 2033 Boulevard, 23834.
