Virginia Vaughan Mariniak, 83, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2009. She was the widow of Michael E. Mariniak, and the daughter of the late Ernest and Ruth Emory Vaughan. She was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin Vaughan. She was a long time member of Matoaca Baptist Church and was currently a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. She loved being outdoors working in her flower gardens, and loved spending time with her three girls and grandchildren. Mrs. Mariniak is survived by three daughters, Sharon Tomlin and husband, Dwayne of Prince George, Va., Faye Newton and husband, John of Colonial Heights, Va., and Ann Carpenter and husband, Harold of Clarksville, Va; grandchildren, Richie Fisher, Dwayne Tomlin Jr. and his fiancée, Tara Callison, Amanda Tomlin, Rebecca Crump, Tammy Stickel and husband, Christopher, and Travis Carpenter; great-grandchildren, Heather Braithwaite and husband, Aaron, Ryan Crump, and Austin Carpenter; a sister, Lucille Chappell and husband, George of Dinwiddie, Va.; brothers, Thomas Vaughan and wife, Pricilla, Edward Vaughan, and Irving Vaughan and wife, Helen all of Carson, Va.; sister-in-law, Edith Porter of Petersburg, Va.; a dear long time friend, Bubba Fenderson, along with many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday August 17, 2009 in the Colonial Heights chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Dr. John Mason and the Reverend Donald Joyner officiating. Burial to follow at Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Va. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-4:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
