Virginia Merritt

Virginia Emory Merritt, 80, of Disputanta, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2015. She was born August 29, 1934 to the late Bernard G. and Margaret Brockwell Emory. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kinnon Merritt; two sisters, Betty E. Chicas and Ruth Hernandez; three brothers, James, Bernard and Willie Emory; one great-grandson, Richard K. Merritt Jr.; and a nephew, Larry Compton. Mrs. Merritt was a former Supervisor with the Arnold Pen Company. She is survived by two sons, Robert Merritt Jr., and wife, Helen and Richard Merritt and wife, Ida; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Hayes, Marion Davis, and Rosa Mae Saulnier; two brothers, Milton Emory and John H. Emory; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 20, 2015 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Darwood Rowan officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
