Virginia Vaughan

Virginia Raye Powell Vaughan, 76, of Colonial Heights went to be with Jesus and her Mama and Daddy, sister, Patsy and great-nephew Greg on Monday, December 3, 2018. She was born to the late Beatrice Mae Thompson and Raymond Earl Powell in Raleigh, N.C. and was raised in Colonial Heights. She loved the Lord and was a charter member of Swift Creek Baptist Church in Colonial Heights where she was a member of The Fellowship Sunday School Class and had sung in the choir. She was a retired Accountant from the Virginia Department of Transportation. Virginia was a retired member of the Association of Governmental Accountants. She loved music and all of God's little creatures. She would feed anything that was hungry and also loved rainy days and Christmas. She is survived by her husband of 54 years and the love of her life, Donald Ray Vaughan; nephew, Robert Archer; niece, Sandi Rose; brother-in-law, Billy Archer; sister-in-law, Jean Vaughan Morris and husband, Wayne; sons, Bryan and Darryl and their families and pets, Sparkee, Patti-Kat and Holly. A very special thanks for the love and support from Doris Sacra and her son, Charles Sacra. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Swift Creek Baptist Church, 18510 Branders Bridge Road, S. Chesterfield, VA 23834. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of �owers, donations may be made to Swift Creek Baptist Church, Benevolent Fund or the Colonial Heights/Petersburg SPCA, 201 Temple Avenue, Suite E, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
