Virginia L. Wilkins, 82, of Colonial Heights, went to be with her Lord, passing from this life to life everlasting, on her birthday, Sunday, December 25, 2011 at the Colonial Heights Health Care Center. Born in North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Samuel H. and Virginia Helen Reese, and was preceded in death by her husband, Morris A. Wilkins. Mrs. Wilkins was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. She retired from Seward Luggage after 26 years, and was the owner/operator of Kitty's Kuts and Kurls. She is survived by her children, Laura Martin and husband, Jerry of Colonial Heights, John C. Edmonds and wife, Sue of Glen Allen, Geneva Sprowls and husband, Lin of Amelia, June Raley and husband, David of Belmont, Michigan, and Chiquita L. Edmonds of Colonial Heights; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a "special thanks" to the Dunlop House, the Colonial Heights Health Care Center, Care Advantage, Odyssey Hospice and her dear friend, Peggy Taylor of Disputanta for their special care and compassion given to their Mother. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with Dr. Merrill Reese officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
