Walter Hershey Sr.

Walter Thomas Hershey Sr., departed this life at the age of 81 on January 27, 2016. He was born on November 15, 1934 in Three Churches, West Virginia, the son of the late Arthur William Hershey and Madge Winifred. He Served in the U.S. Army in the 101at Airborne Division, serving his Country in the Marshall Islands on the Eniwetok out in the North Pacific. For 35 years he worked at Lone Star Industries, Sand and Gravel Plant and retired in 1998.After retirement he served as a member at the American Legion Post #248 in Colonial Heights, VA. Tom, a gentle soul, easy going fellow, enjoyed the simple things in life and was truly a family man, and was married to his loving wife for 59 years. He is survived by his wife, Grethel Reed Hershey; three sons, Walter Thomas, Jr., David and wife Paige, James and wife Melody; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
