Walter Summers

Walter B. Summers, 96, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2011 at Colonial Heights Health Care Center. Born in Georgetown, Indiana, he was the son of the late Henry and Nellie Engleman Summers, and the widower of Lucille Johnson Summers. He was a charter member and Deacon Emeritus of Colonial Christian Church. Mr. Summers was a United States Navy Veteran having served during World War II, a charter member of the National Association of Federal Employees Chapter #1472 of Colonial Heights, and the Colonial Heights American Legion Post #284. He is survived by a cousin, William Hollis and wife, Dolores of Floyds Knobs, Indiana; and other cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2011 in Colonial Christian Church, 295 Dunlop Farms Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Clay Boyd officiating. Interment will be held at Tunnel Hill Cemetery, Georgetown, Indiana. The family will receive from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Colonial Christian Church.
