Wanda Akers

Wanda B. Akers, 90, of Chesterfield passed away on Friday, December 25, 2015 at Chippenham Medical Center. She was born in West Virginia on February 28, 1925 to the late John Wesley and Vera Jennings Bruce, and was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Patrick Daniel Akers. Mrs. Akers was a member of Ivey Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by her devoted family. Mrs. Akers is survived by two daughters, Debra Berry and husband, Vance of Richmond, Donna Sargent and husband, Joe of Chesterfield; four grandchildren, Jennifer Jaeckle and husband, Andrew, Courtney Mills and husband Jacob, Elizabeth and Trey Berry; great granddaughter, Harper Jaeckle; as well as her wonderful neighbors and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday January 2, 2016 in the Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834, with the Reverend Jim Smith and the Reverend Carl Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 1, 2016 at the funeral home.
