Wayne Young

Wayne Lee Young, 68, of Chester, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at McGuire V.A. Medical Center. He was the son of the late James Preston and Hazel Wilkerson Young. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, Petersburg. Mr. Young was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam War, and was the recipient of numerous medals to include the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Mr. Young was a graduate of the University of Richmond, and the University of Florida, "Go Gators!" He was a retired CPA. He is survived by his wife, Judith C. Young; a daughter, Hannah Lee Young of Chester; an aunt, Mrs. Lois Biggs of Petersburg also survived by several cousins, sisters and brothers in-laws. A graveside service will be held 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009 in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg with the Reverend Joseph Lewis officiating. The procession will leave the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. His remains rest at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
