Wendell A. Jenkins Jr., 69, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at his residence. Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Wendell A. Jenkins Sr. and Naoma Cunningham Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins was a retired Chemical Plant Technician with Hercules Inc. after 43 years of service, a member of the Colonial Heights Volunteer Fire Department, and the Motorcycle Star Touring and Riding Association. He is survived by two sons, Wendell A. Jenkins III of Powhatan, Mark W. Jenkins of Colonial Heights; a daughter, Cherie J. Shell and husband, Scott of Disputanta; a step-daughter, Joana C. Brumley of Hopewell; five grandchildren, Jeremey Jenkins, Kyle Jenkins, Adam Jenkins, Xana Brumley and Caleb Shell; two sisters, Barbara J. Davis of Colonial Heights, and Diana Wheelock-Crowe of Henrico; a brother, Wilton Lee Jenkins of Colonial Heights; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2011 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with Elder Diana Wheelock-Crowe officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
