Wesley Burton Sr.

Wesley Floyd Burton, Sr., 90, of Chester, went to be with the Lord on August 8th. He was the son of the late Walter and Edmonia Burton, and was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Fers Burton and son, Randy Burton. He is survived by his son, W. Floyd Burton, Jr. and wife, Denise; daughter Janice B. Blakley and husband, Russ, all of Chester; sister Alease Butler of Chester; grandson Kyle Rose and wife Melissa of Chesterfield; granddaughter, Kristal Rose and husband Michael of Chester; and great-granddaughters, Kara and Cadence. Wesley served in the U.S. Army in both World War II and the Korean War. He was a former volunteer firefighter and Chief at the Chester Volunteer Fire Department. He played semi-pro baseball in the 1940s and 50s. For many years, Wesley was a custom homebuilder in the Chester area. He was also a member and long-time treasurer of the Knights Run Hunt Club. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday August 12, 2013 in the Colonial Heights chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, with Chaplain Craig Buxton officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday August 11, 2013 at the funeral home.
