Wilda Langster Freeland 91, of Colonial Heights, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2022. She was born on July 18, 1931, to the late James W. and Cora Shell Langster. Wilda was also preceded in death by her husband, Milton E. Freeland, Sr.; and one sister, Marie L. Bishop.
She retired from Southside Regional Medical Center and was a member of The Heights Baptist Church for over 70 years. Wilda was an avid gardener and loved tending to her flowers. She was also a seamstress, and enjoyed cooking, canning, and all things of nature.
Wilda is survived by three daughters, Donna F. Townes, of Colonial Heights, Gayle F. Ackerman, of Colonial Heights, and Patricia F. Belcher (Gibson), of Alpharetta, Ga.; one son, Milton E. Freeland, Jr. (Lonna), of Colonial Heights; 11 grandchildren, Flora T. Hezel, Charles C. Townes (Rebecka), II, Brett L. Montgomery (Stephanie), James D. Montgomery (Laura), Allison G. Montgomery, Matthew P. Belcher, Kari B. Rivers (Brantley), Emily B. Gillespie (Michael), Kalyn E. Fisher, David M. Freeland, and Cory J. Freeland (Rebecca); 12 great-grandchildren, Colin, Ian, Kai, Caiden, Alaina, Lachlan, Brayden, Beckett, Baylor, Briggs, Chamberlain, Kamryn, and preceded in death, Sadie Joy; beloved niece, Laurie F. Wells; devoted friend, Pat Cawthorne, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2022 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Va. 23834. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, S. Prince George, Va. 23805.
