Wilfred Mann

June 17, 1921 — September 7, 2012

Wilfred E. Mann, 91 of Chesterfield, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2012 at the Colonial Heights Health Care Center. He was the widower of Irene Carterette Mann, and the son of the late Ralph and Pearl Kidd Mann. He was preceded in death by brothers, Warren Mann (his twin), Herbert Leslie "Shiny" Mann, and Ralph Mann Jr., and a sister, Gladys Mann Groome. Mr. Mann was a member of Saint Michael's Episcopal Church in Colonial Heights, where he had served as Lay Eucharist Minister, Trustee, former Senior Warden, Treasurer and Vestry Man. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran, served as past Commander of the Samuel Ali Mann Chapter of the M.O.S.B. (Military Order of the Stars and Bars), Chaplain of the A.P. Hill Camp 167 S.C.V., Colonial Heights American Legion Post #284, Past President of the Colonial Heights Rotary Club, National Association of Retired Federal Workers, and the Past President of the Fort Lee Federal Credit Union. Mr. Mann is survived by his daughter, Louise Elliott Mann of Chesterfield; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, September 10, 2012 at Saint Michael's Episcopal Church, 501 Old Town Dr. Colonial Heights, with the Reverend Tige Newell officiating. Burial to follow at Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 3-4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Michael's Episcopal Church, Rotary International District 7600, 312 Waller Mill Road, Suite 300, Williamsburg, Virginia 23185 or the Chesterfield Fire and EMS, 10031 Iron Bridge Road, Chesterfield, Virginia 23832.
