Willard Gilbert

Willard Gilbert Sergeant Major (Ret.) U.S. Army, 84, of Prince George, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Chippenham Medical Center.  He was born November 21, 1938, in Mainville Ohio, to the late Adam Gilbert and Thelma Roberts.   Willard proudly served our country in the United States Army for 32 years retiring as a Sergeant Major.  He was a Legion of Merit recipient and received various other awards and commendations.  Willard served two tours of duty in Vietnam, he also served in Augsburg and Nurnburg Germany, Fort Lee, Virginia, Camp Darby, Livorno Italy and Yongson Seoul South Korea until retirement.  Willard leaves behind his wife Chung Gilbert; his son Robert Gilbert (Michelle); daughter Eunchong Kang (Sung); grandchildren Jessica Dixon (Sean), Courtney Martin, Abigail Kang, Charlotte Kang; great grandchildren Elias, and Oliver Dixon. A graveside service with full military honors will take place 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2023, at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia 10300 Pridesville Road Amelia, Virginia 23002.  Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
