Willard Jackson Wootten, 91 of N. Prince George passed away peacefully on Monday, April 18, 2022. He was born in Appomattox, Va. on August 17, 1930. His family moved to Dinwiddie Va. where they lived for a number of years. He is predeceased by his parents, Ellis P. Wootten and Carrie J. Wootten; wife, of 40 years, Alice Wootten; brothers, Bernard, Marvin, and Hunter; sisters, Sallie and Thelma; and step-son, Bruce Brockwell. He is survived by his twin brother, Wilson Wooten (Nancy); step-daughter, Judy Brockwell (Russell); step-son, Lawrence Brockwell, Jr. (Kathy); step-granddaughter, Courtney Brockwell; daughter, Robin Stoner; several nieces and nephews; and his three cats he raised from kittens. Willard was a painter who worked for several outfits and retired from Fort Lee. He still painted for anyone that needed a job done with windows being his specialty. He enjoyed working in his garden along with his wife and raised lots of vegetables which he shared with family and friends. He also enjoyed playing music. He could play the guitar, harmonica, mandolin and fiddle. He played and sang with two gospel groups, going to many nursing homes, churches and events, for many years. He also enjoyed wood working. He refinished furniture, tables, and a church pew. He built and painted many wind ornaments for the yard. He loved to see wood brought back to its natural state. He will be missed by his family his friends, and his Sycamore United Methodist Church family, of which he was a devoted member and choir member. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sycamore UMC, 9710 Old Stage Rd, Prince George, Va. 23875. A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, May 2, 2022 at 11 AM at Sycamore UMC. The family will receive friends for a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
