William Lee Adams “Billy”, 82, of Chester, Virginia, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024. Born in Richmond, Virginia on August 10, 1941, he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson Adams and Thelma Lee Smith Adams. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ervin Jackson Adams “Jack”; uncles, James Adams, Whitfield Adams, and Linwood Morrison; aunt, Myrtle Morrison; and grandmother, Ivey Mason.
Billy started out working as a paper delivery boy in his young life, and then went to work for Virginia Dairy, delivering to many locals. He also worked for Atlantic Office Supply, handling their supplies and filling out orders, and A.H. Robins Company as a warehouse worker who maintained their inventory. Finally, Billy retired from Hauni Richmond, Inc. as a parts manufacturer in their furnace room, dedicating eight years to the company. In his free time, Billy enjoyed collecting trains, model cars, and boats. He loved to work on cars, play games with his nieces and nephews, fishing, and tinkering in his basement with the many creative projects he did.
Billy is survived by his brother, Kenneth N. Adams; nephews, Kenneth, Michael (Laura), and Garrett (Angie) Adams; niece, Delores Batte “Dee”; great-nephews, John, Samuel, Garrett, and Liam Adams, and Nautis Batte; great-nieces, Makayla Allen, Mckenzie and Sarah Adams; and many other extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024, in Carmel Church Cemetery, 24320 US-1, Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546.
