William Burford

William H. Burford, 82, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2011 at his residence. Born in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Frank S. and Edith Waters Burford, and was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis B. Burford. Mr. Burford was a veteran with the United States Army having served during WWII. His lifelong passion was golf, and the love of his grandson. He is survived by his son, W. Keith Burford of Midlothian; a daughter Kimberly W Goad and husband, Wayne of Colonial Heights; a grandson, Nathan W. Goad; a brother, George Stuart Burford of Keswick; a niece, Patricia Ann Salmon; a nephew, William Edwin Woodroof Jr.; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and his caregiver, loving friend and a member of our family, Carolyn Johnston. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2011 in Elon Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 2290 Cedar Gate Road, Madison Heights, Virginia 24572 with Pastor Barry Tucker officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
