William Engels

William Jacob Engels, 75, of Chesterfield, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at MCV Medical Center. Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Willie and Lucy Johnson Engels. Mr. Engels was a longtime member of Matoaca United Methodist Church, where he served in all phases of church activities, the Harrison Mill Pond Association, the North Carolina Beach Buggy Association, and was a retired Supervisor with VDOT. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte M. Engels; a son, William K. Engels of Chesterfield; a daughter, Anne Meredith Engels of Chesterfield; two granddaughters, Hayley M. and Amanda B. Engels; nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2011 in the Matoaca United Methodist Church, 6301 River Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23803 with the Reverend Donna Mott officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Flowers welcome or donations may be made to the Memorial Fund at Matoaca United Methodist Church.
